A planning application 18/06980/FUL has been submitted on behalf of Aldi Stores Limited to construct a new food store at the Malmesbury Garden Centre site at the junction of the A429 and the B4014. The application also includes an outline application for replacement of the Garden Centre and/or employment uses at that location.

Although the application site is in the parish of Malmesbury St Paul Without, Wiltshire Council has decided to consult with the Town Council as the development would have an impact on the town.

The Town Council is due to consider the application at a meeting of the Planning and Environment Committee in the Town Hall at 7pm on Tuesday 7th August. Town residents are very welcome to attend and make their views known, although space will be limited. Due to the application's complexity, the Committee is unlikely to arrive at a final decision at that meeting.

Not all bus passes will be renewed automatically from 01 January 2019. This is because there are approximately 20,000 passes in circulation that have not been scanned on a bus prior to renewal, indicating that the pass has not been used. In these cases, the passes will not be automatically renewed.
Damage to Market Cross

On Monday the 15th Century Market Cross in Malmesbury was hit by a heavy goods vehicle resulting in considerable damage to one of the supporting columns. We are currently awaiting the report of a specialist engineer from Historic England before seeking quotations for the necessary remedial work.
