Following discussion regarding Wiltshire Councils intention to introduce parking charges on Bank Holidays Malmesbury Town Council have agreed to subsidise the parking on these days, and in doing so have ensured that free parking for residents and visitors continues. The subsidy applies to both Cross Hayes and Station Road car parks and follows concerns raised by residents and councillors who opposed the introduction.

Chair of Planning and Environment at Malmesbury Town Council, Cllr. John Gundry said "We are delighted to be able to support our community in dealing with the surprise introduction of parking charges by Wiltshire Council. We are happy to subsidise free parking on bank holidays to benefit residents, businesses and visitors."
