Former Deputy Mayor Councillor Julie Exton was voted in as the town's new Mayor unanimously at Malmesbury Town Council meeting on Tuesday 7th May 2019 and Councillor Campbell Ritchie was also voted in unanimously as Julie's Deputy Mayor.

Julie said: "Thank you for all your messages and kind words, I was totally overwhelmed, you are always there for me, that means a lot.  "Looking forward to the next year ahead, representing the council, residents and this beautiful town of ours, I will do everything I can to support the town and residents. "With you all beside me, we can do this."

The formal robing ceremony will take place on Tuesday 28th May 2019.

The new Mayor's first official event took place on Wednesday 8th May opening the new dementia household at Athelstan House in Malmesbury.  Julie opened the new household which has been designed with best practice in dementia design with themed corridors decorated with items of an era that will be familiar to residents.

There will be a limited service today at the Tourist Information Centre and the Town Council office in the Town Hall.  Electrical engineers are undertaking important work in preparation for the refurbishment of the Tourist Information Centre. If you need to speak to the Town Council or the Tourist Information Centre, we would be grateful if you could please ring instead of coming to the Town Hall.  Telephone: 01666 822143.  If however you need to make a visit, please use the Jack Daws entrance and knock on the doors into TIC and a member of staff will come to you.   We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
A Civic Reception was held on Friday 28th June for visitors from our twin town of Gien in France. 26 visitors arrived on Thursday including the Maire-Adjoint of Gien, Cllr Stephane Cornee.
