An Exhibition of Fine Art by

 THE GUILD OF WILTSHIRE ARTISTS

The Guild of Wiltshire Artists was started in 1985 by three professional painters - John Soar of Lydiard Millicent, James Trew of Westlea and Frederick Cameron-Street of Broad Town.  They gathered together a small group of thirteen experienced artists, all keen to share their talents, ideas and knowledge with each other.  To this end, and unlike many other art groups at the time which tended to be exhibiting societies only, Guild members decided to meet once a month at Wootton Bassett Civic Centre, for painting demonstrations, talks and workshops.  This spirit of open co-operation is still fundamental to the membership, now 40-strong, and The Guild continues to hold these practical monthly meetings at Hook Village Hall so that the high standard can be upheld.

The Guild has been granted the privilege of using the “Bustard” County emblem as its logo.

The artwork of The Guild’s current membership includes a wide variety of subject matter, from finely detailed landscapes, seascapes, still life, animals and portraits to more impressionistic, abstract and surreal images.  An extensive range of media and styles are adopted to display these to best effect.

The Guild has occasional activity events which are open to non-members.  One of our regular events is a daytime painting workshop at Broad Town Village Hall, usually on the first Friday and third Saturday of each month, 10am – 3pm.
