About Me:

The people in Malmesbury are very important to me and I feel it is a privilege to be a Councillor here. I have lived in Malmesbury for nearly 35 years and am married with a teenage son. My work with the Council over the years has been varied and I have served on or attended every committee and was Deputy Mayor for the year 2014-15.

A big highlight has been working as the Town Council representative for the Malmesbury Neighbourhood Plan giving our community the opportunity to have a say about how our town is developed and this includes making sure we have enough infrastructure to support growth. We were the first to achieve this in Wiltshire! I am also proud to have set up the ‘No-Cold Calling Zone’ in Malmesbury for some of our more vulnerable residents and this year being part of the ‘Possible Pedestrianisation of the Market Cross’ Working Party. For the first time, the Town Council has used an online (and paper) survey to ask for residents views on a particularly important issue before making their decision.

My focus has always been to help improve what is available for local people in our beautiful town and I was grateful and honoured to have had this recognised when recently nominated for The Pride of The Cotswolds Awards 2018, of which I was a finalist.

I have been involved with local groups and charities for a number of years on a voluntary basis. Starting in a small way at my son’s preschool and then becoming more involved at Malmesbury Primary School fundraising as Chair of the PTA. As my son grew older, I volunteered at 1st Malmesbury Scout Group as Chair of the Executive Committee and I ran St. Mary’s Hall as a Community Hall for many groups including Malmesbury Carnival. The last few years I have been very closely involved in setting up and running the new Riverside Community Centre in Gloucester Rd, with three other trustees and in partnership with Wiltshire Council. I am also a trustee of two other local charities.
