Calling all Artists! High Street + Art Gallery 2025 - Applications are now open! 23rd August to 21st September 2025

For some years, Community Engagement and Town Promotions Committee of Malmesbury Town Council has organised a High Street Plus ‘Art Gallery’.  This is to encourage more residents and visitors into our shops and to promote local artists, with a view to purchasing the art displayed.

This has been a great success, which is why we are now inviting you to participate in the High Street Plus Art Gallery 2025!

We are also linking in with Caerbladon CIC and their September Art Month, which includes the Flying Monk Arts Trail during the weekend of 27th and 28th September 2025.

How the High Street Plus Art Gallery works …..

You will provide a piece of art to exhibit in a shop or business window.

·         You will also have a piece of art in reserve as a replacement, should the first be sold.

·         Retailers will provide a space in their window between Saturday 23rd August and Sunday 21st September to display your artwork.

·         Please note the project is called the High St Plus – Art Gallery because when we match up the art works, it could mean any retailer or business in the High Street, Gloucester Street and Road and the Triangle Area.

·         You will need to provide a piece of art which is of an appropriate size to exhibit in a retailer’s window, along with their regular stock display (This means not too large!).

·         The subject of the artwork will need to be appropriate for all age groups.

·         All exhibits must have the title and price attached and we need to have a concise description of the piece of art/artist to put on a display card to go with the artwork.

·         You will need to deliver your first piece of artwork to whichever shop or business is allocated to you and at least 2 or 3 days in advance of the start date.

·         The Tourist Information Centre (TIC) will have a full list of the exhibits and prices and when someone is interested in purchasing your art, the buyer will be asked by the retailer to call at the TIC to pay for your artwork.

·         The buyer will then receive a receipt form the TIC to present to the retailer as proof of purchase and they will give them your artwork in return.

·         If sold, the retailer will receive 20% of the sale of the proceeds and the artist will receive 80% of the sale.  (You will be contacted for bank/payment details).  Malmesbury Town Council will manage all payments.

·         The TIC will then contact you to ask you to deliver your reserved piece of art to the retailer for display in their window.

·         All artwork must be collected by you from the retailer after the exhibition has finished.

Your artwork will be displayed in a safe place, but at your own risk.  Retailers and Malmesbury Town Council will not be liable for theft, damage, mis-sale or any associated loss and there will be no options for compensation.  Please take note of this when considering entering your artwork.

Malmesbury Town Council will promote the High Street Art Gallery with posters, online posts and social media.  There will also be a grand opening launch by the Mayor Councillor Stephen James at 10.30am on Saturday 23rd August 2025 to which you will be invited.

We really hope you are interested in taking part and if you have any questions about the High Street Plus – Art Gallery, then please contact the TIC (Tourist Information Centre) at the Town Hall via email This email address is being protected from spambots. To participate, you will need to complete, sign and return the form below to the TIC by Friday 1st August 2025.
