Christmas Message from Police and Crime Commissioner Phillip Wilkinson

Christmas Message from Police and Crime Commissioner Phillip Wilkinson

As the festive season approaches it's a time for celebration and spending time with loves ones, and I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and healthy festive season.

Wiltshire Police's officers, staff and volunteers remain hard at work during the festivities to ensure our communities are kept safe, as they continue to respond to incidents, provide support and protect those who need it most.  I know that we each are thankful for their individual contribution to keeping us safe.

This year we have made some real progress, including Wiltshire Police being lifted from Engage status.  This is down to the hard work and dedication of our officers, staff and volunteers, and Chief Constable Catherine Roper's ability to turn Wiltshire Police around - it has not been an easy path to tread.  I also thank her for her hard work, dedication and professionalism over the past year.

With close partnership working to deliver the Serious Violence Duty, Safer Streets, Clear Hold Build and ASB Hotspots projects, our support has enabled the Force to give a greater focus to operational delivery and enforcement in our communities.

I'd also like to extend my thanks to all our OPCC volunteers including Independent Custody Visitors, Legally Qualified Chairs, JIGRAC and Scrutiny Panel Members, Independent Panel and Advisory Group Members, Restorative Justice Coordinators, Animal Welfare Officers and Community Speed Watch teams - as well as our partners and stakeholders for continuously helping us to move towards our joint goal or making communities safer.

I hope each of you who celebrates has a Merry Christmas and I look forward to continuing to work together to make Wiltshire a safer place to live, work and visit in 2025.

Kind regards,

P R Wilkinson OBE
