Local Parish and Town Council elections are being held on Thursday 1st May 2025.  

If you care about your community, stand for election as a Town Councillor!

Nomination Process

To become nominated as a candidate you will need to submit a completed set of nomination papers to one of the three Wiltshire Council hubs: Bourne Hill, Monkton Park and County Hall. Nominations open Wednesday 12th March 2025 at 10am and the deadline for submission of nomination papers on Wednesday 2nd April 2025 4pm.

Candidates considering standing for election are encouraged to read the guidance from the Electoral Commission which details what you need to do.

Wiltshire Council are encouraging candidates to book appointments in advance for an informal check of nomination papers before submission.

Currently home to many famous & popular musical, cultural, and festival events throughout the year, visitors can browse the charming streets with independent retailers, or stop at one of the lively cafes, restaurants, pubs, and bars.

Attractions to visit include the stunning 12th century Malmesbury Abbey, 15th century Market Cross and the Athelstan Museum with a painting of Malmesbury Abbey by JMW Turner. There are also lovely walks along the River Avon.
