Malmesbury Civic Awards 2025!

Nominations are now open for Malmesbury’s Civic Awards for 2025!

The Civic Awards are awarded to those who, in the judgement of Malmesbury Town Councillor's, have made the most significant and sustained contribution to our local community in the past year.  The area in which the contribution must have been made is Malmesbury, Milbourne, Cowbridge, Burton Hill, Common Road, Foxley Road and Filands.

This year we are pleased to announce a new category for Malmesbury Young Sports Person of the Year for individuals up to 25 years old.  This new award is in memory of Leon Pretorius.   Leon was a passionate sportsman and supporter of young people. He was a very active coach at both Malmesbury Junior Football Club and Malmesbury Cricket Club. He also helped on the HEALS Summer Programme.

This award will recognise sporting excellence among young people who take part in the various sporting clubs of Malmesbury and will commemorate Leon’s contribution to the community, particularly his encouragement of confidence, teamwork and sense of fair play through sport among young people.

The Malmesbury Civic Awards Categories are:

  • Citizen of the Year (for individuals aged 26 or over)
  • Malmesbury Young Sports Person of the Year (for individuals up to 25)
  • Young Citizen of the Year (for individuals aged between 16 and 25)
  • Junior Citizen of the Year (for individuals aged under 16)
  • Organisation or Group of the Year  
  • 10 Year Service Volunteer Contribution Certificate
  • Mayor’s Lifetime Achievement Award

The Civic Awards Ceremony will be held on Wednesday 23rd April 2025 at 7.00pm
