Malmesbury in the English Civil War – May 4th and 5th – CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!
The Civil War reenactment group the Devereux Regiment – known to anyone who has watched the Carnival Procession - are celebrating 50 years this year. With the support of Malmesbury Town Council they are in Malmesbury on the 4th and 5th of May and restaging the attack along Abbey Row just as happened in 1644 during the Civil War! They will also be putting up a camp in Cloister Gardens and the Town Hall to demonstrate how life was in the 17th Century.
Are you willing to be one of our volunteers who can help us make everything pass off relatively peacefully! To help with audience direction, stewarding, merchandising, participant co-ordination, and set up and put down. In other words, enabling those attending to be in the right place at the right time to see what is going on and having a great time, while keeping everyone clear of firing muskets and pointed pikes. We’re operating two-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with our greatest need on Sunday afternoon from 12:30pm to 4:30pm when we have closed the roads for the attack re-enactment.
If you would like to make things go with a bang, and are able to offer a shift or two please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
