Malmesbury Remembrance Service took place on Sunday 10th November with a procession through the town which included soldiers from Buckley Barracks 9RLC, Deputy Lieutenant Mr Piers Dibben, Under Sheriff of Wiltshire Mr Christopher Bromfield, Ms Roz Savage Wiltshire MP, Councillor Threlfall Wiltshire Council, Warden & Freeman, Wiltshire Police, Fire and Malmesbury Town Councillors.
A Service took place in the Abbey led by the Reverend Oliver Ross and a poignant reading of the names of the Malmesbury fallen in the two World Wars was read out by Charles Vernon from the Royal British Legion.
Also in attendance was Mr Derek Tilney who received a Certificate from the Under Sheriff of Wiltshire, Mr Christopher Bromfield for recognition of his exceptional service with the Royal British Legion. Derek also received a Gold Badge from the Royal British Legion in October.
Wreaths were laid on behalf of His Majesty the King, Parliament, Wiltshire and Malmesbury Town Councils, Warden and Freemen, our Armed Forces, Police, Guides, Brownies, Scouts and the Royal British Legion.
