Mayor of Malmesbury Robing Ceremony - Tuesday 21st May 2024

We are delighted to share pictures from the new Mayor’s, Councillor Phil Exton, Robing Ceremony on the 21st May. In attendance on the evening was Deputy Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Shirley Ludford and other newly inaugurated Mayors of Tetbury, Marlborough, Highworth, Salisbury, Royal Wootton Bassett & Chippenham, Inspector Gareth Edwards of Wiltshire Police and Malmesbury Crew Manager Jamie Johnstone of Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Service, along with many of the Mayor’s friends and family. Councillor Exton has chosen to raise money for Malmesbury Boxing Club and HEALS of Malmesbury throughout his Mayoral year.

It was a remarkable event, upholding traditions in this unique Town known for its rich history.

Attractions to visit include the stunning 12th century Malmesbury Abbey, 15th century Market Cross and the Athelstan Museum with a painting of Malmesbury Abbey by JMW Turner. There are also lovely walks along the River Avon.
