New Mayor of Malmesbury - Robing Ceremony Tuesday 23rd May 2023

It was a warm evening in the town hall on Tuesday 23rd May.  With over 100 people attending the new Mayor of Malmesbury, Cllr Gavin Grant Robing Ceremony.

In attendance was the Deputy Lord Lieutenant Mr Piers Dibben, the High Sheriff of Wiltshire Mr Pradeep Bhardwaj, CO Lt Col Bhundia and RSM W01 Blackburn from 9 RLC Buckley Barracks, Reverend Oliver Ross and Mayors from Wilton, Tetbury, Salisbury, Marlborough, Chippenham and Calne.

The Mayor's Charities of the year also joined the celebrations;  HEALS, Malmesbury Animal Sanctuary and Malmesbury Rivers Valley Trust.

The Council welcomed the new Mayoress Liz Cook MBE, Deputy Mayor Cllr Phil Exton and Deputy Mayoress (former Mayor) Julie Exton.

It was Stephen Caygill our new Mace Bearer first big event for the Council and he was a great success!  Well done Stephen!

The Young Citizen of the Year, Ellie Barlow was also present to accept her trophy and certificate from Cllr Kim Power, former Mayor and Sue Poole, sponsor of the John Poole Cup. Well done Ellie!  Photos by Richard Harris.
