Storm Éowyn update
Storm Éowyn is expected to bring strong winds and rain to Wiltshire over the next few days and into the weekend and next week. There is currently a yellow warning of wind in Wiltshire in place today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday), a yellow warning of both wind and rain for Sunday, and a yellow warning of rain on Monday, though this may change.
Please ensure you secure all loose items in your gardens, particularly trampolines. Please also keep an eye on the Government’s flood alerts and warnings webpage for the latest information. You can also sign up for flood warnings and find out about what to do when warnings/alerts in place.
If you are planning to travel this week or over the weekend, please allow extra time for your journeys, drive carefully and be aware of any debris or surface water on Wiltshire’s roads. Do not attempt to drive through any floodwater.
Our teams of tree surgeons and highways engineers are on standby to deal with any reports of flooding or trees down, so please report any issues at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/MyWilts.
If you are planning to use public transport over the next few days and over the weekend, please check with your transport provider before you travel, as services may be affected. If you experience a power cut, please call 105.
Waste collection crews are currently working as normal and our household recycling centres are scheduled to open as usual, though this may change if the weather worsens.
Please check our Facebook page for the latest updates.
