Town Clerk - Moving on to pastures new

The Town Clerk of Malmesbury, Mr Richard Spencer-Williams, has formally tendered his resignation from the Town Council in order to take up the Town Clerk position
 at Marlborough Town Council.

Mr Spencer-Williams joined Malmesbury Town Council as Town Clerk and Financial Officer in March 2019 and will complete his move to Marlborough, a bigger Town Council,
in March 2021.

Cllr. Wayne Jones, Chair of the Policy and Resources Committee, said “We are very grateful to the Town Clerk for his service to the Council and to the wider Malmesbury community, particularly during the unprecedented times we have faced during 2020. With his commitment and support we have successfully maintained Town Council operations with minimal impact, and have been able to amend our policies, procedures and service provision to ensure Covid compliance in these challenging times. We are now in a strong position and will start the process of recruiting a replacement Town Clerk in the new year.”

Town Mayor, Cllr. Campbell Ritchie added, “Richard has gone the extra mile for Malmesbury as Town Clerk. His achievements include the Town Council completing a number of major projects such as the new public toilets in the Cross Hayes, the adult gym in St Aldhelm's Mead and major improvement works at the Tetbury Hill Cemetery. He was also an integral part of the Malmesbury Town Council and Heals Partnership, which did so much valuable work following the onset of the COVID 19 emergency earlier this year. We wish him well in his new role at Marlborough“.

In his resignation letter Mr Spencer-Williams thanked them for their support, and said ”It has been an honour, privilege and gift to serve Malmesbury Town Council, and
Malmesbury community… I will take significant learning and experience with me from working for Malmesbury Town Council.
