Armed Forces Day - Royal Wootton Bassett

An open-air service will take place at the War Memorial on the High Street.
The RBL Riders Branch have decided to hold their National Rally in Royal Wootton Bassett to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Hercules XV 179 being brought down during the conflict in Iraq, and the 10 personnel being repatriated back to RAF Lyneham, and through our town.
In 2007 RAF Lyneham was then designated as the station to be used for repatriations and this continued until 2011. In total 355 servicemen and women were repatriated to RAF Lyneham and came through Royal Wootton Bassett where residents lined the High Street as a mark of respect.
As part of their National Rally, the RBL Riders will be attending the Armed Forces Day open-air service; which will take place at the War Memorial on the High Street.
